Curtis Smith

Chief Meteorologist

Curtis Smith is Indiana's NewsCenter Chief Meteorologist. Curtis joined Indiana's NewsCenter in October 1995. In July 2002, Curtis became the first meteorologist in Fort Wayne to earn the prestigious American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. Earlier, in March 2000, Curtis earned the National Weather Association Seal of Approval, and held it through 2007. In August 2000, Curtis received the Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

In addition to watching Curtis Monday-Friday at 5, 5:30, 6, 10, and 11, you can read his weekly weather column in the Sunday Journal-Gazette. Curtis' forecasts are also featured daily on WeatherPlus, our 24/7 local weather network. Journal-Gazette readers have named Curtis the Best Local Weather Forecaster in the paper's Reader's Choice Awards.

Before coming to Indiana's NewsCenter, Curtis spent time at KLAX-TV in Alexandria, Louisiana and WSIL-TV in Carterville, Illinois.

Curtis and his wife have three wonderful boys. They were all born here in Fort Wayne.

Aside from weather, Curtis enjoys playing golf, racquetball, softball, and basketball. He is a huge fan of the Boston Celtics, the St. Louis Rams, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
