New Indiana Congressman and Superdelegate Andre Carson endorses Barack Obama

By Peter Ambrose

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana congressman Andre Carson is endorsing Senator Barack Obama for president.

Carson is a superdelegate to the Democratic national convention
this summer, and he's the first of Indiana's five U.S. House Democrats to announce support for a candidate.

The superdelegates could determine who gets the nomination in
the close race between Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton.

Indiana Clinton spokesman Jonathan Swain says he respects
Carson's decision but that the campaign remains focused on Clinton's message to the voters and that she is the strongest candidate in Indiana.

Carson faces three serious challengers in the state's May 6th
primary, and he says Obama is endorsing him in that race.
