FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Two Leo Elementary School students who helped a friend are this month's Angels Among Us.
Leo fifth grader, Allie Feldman, has Crohn's Disease, a painful gastro-intestinal condition, diagnosed when she was four.
Two of Allie's girlfriends, Ashton Heidenreich and Brooke Moser, are raising awareness, not to mention money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
They and other classmates formed Team All 4 Allie in a recent bowl-a-thon and printed t-shirts, netting $600!
Brooke even donated her birthday money to Allie's team.
They proudly wear "thank you" necklaces from Allie.
Allie's mom, who works tirelessly to get the word out about Crohn's, couldn't help but nominate Allie's friends.
Ashton Heidenreich said, "I've known Allie for so long, and I know it hurts when she has stomach aches, and she's told me about the bowl-a-thon before, so I figured maybe we should do it now."
Brooke Moser said, "I had a birthday party at Crazy Pinz and instead of getting presents, people gave money to the Crohn's disease, and we raised over a hundred dollars."
Allie Feldman says, "It means really a lot to me because they're helping me or other people to get medicines for their disease to make them feel better."
Jane Feldman said, "I couldn't believe the kindness and the caring and the love that these girls had shown my daughter throughout the years of knowing her, and we're just blessed... truly blessed."
Allie's sister, Anna, and the rest of the family couldn't be more proud of Allie and her friends who are all only 10 and 11 years old!
Allie's condition, by the way, is controlled by diet and medicine, and she's been happy and healthy for years.
An amazing group of girls, and I found out about them through a nomination for Angels Among Us on our website.
