The Allen County Extension Homemakers will offer the following programs this winter and spring. The general public is invited to attend. Pre-registration is required as some class space is limited.
Registration forms are available at the Extension Office or they can be
found on the web at www.extension.purdue.edu/allen. All programs are held at the Allen County Extension Office on the IPFW campus, 4001 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN.

"KNITTED 'SQUIGGLE' SCARF" 1:00 P.M. JANUARY 22, 2013
Knit a scarf that has curls on the edges. Nadine Scholz will teach
the technique to make a scarf for the winter ahead. BRING: "Amazing"
yarn (1-2 skeins depending on length of scarf) and Size 10 knitting
needles.

"HISTORY OF ALLEN COUNTY" 1:00 P.M. FEBRUARY 12, 2013
Todd Pilfrey, Executive Director of the History Museum will take
everyone back in time to discuss the history of Allen County. Learn
tidbits of trivia to share with family and friends.

"CROCHETED LADDER YARN NECKLACE" 1:00 P.M. MARCH 19, 2013
Learn to crochet a multi-strand, light weight, colorful necklace
using ladder yarn with instructor, Helen Brown. BRING: Size J or K
crochet hook. COST: $5.00.

"MINI SCRAPBOOK INFUSION"
5:30 P.M. APRIL 11, 2013
Paper crafter, Dawn Scheuman returns to share her ideas blending
two scrapbooking techniques into one. Join the fun as we repurpose a
child's favorite item and fuse it with a simple scrapbook technique to
create one clever outcome. BRING: 1 Designer Mat Pad (4"x6");
Coordinating Embellishments (optional); 3 pieces coordinating 12"x12" Cardstock; Permanent 'snail' style adhesive + 1 refill; Scissors; Cutting & Scoring Systems (if you own them); 8-10 croppable photos; favorite tools of your choice. Some supplies and tools provided. COST:
$7.00. Class size limit: 15 participants.

"PROPOGATING PLANTS FROM STEM CUTTINGS"
7:00 P.M. MAY 24, 2013
Many of us have started new houseplants by rooting stems in water.
Join Deb Clark as she explains how to grow new plants from propagating
stem cuttings another way. In the spring, shrubs and perennials are
bursting into new growth which is ideal for cuttings; for example,
lilac, viburnum, lavender, coneflower, your own root roses, etc. BRING:
Cuttings from favorite outdoor/indoor plants; 4" or 6" Pot; Clippers.
Cuttings should be 4" to 6" long. You should be able to fit 6 to 10
cuttings in a 4" or 6" pot so bring cuttings to share. Wrap the cuttings
immediately in wet paper towels and place in a plastic bag. Label the
bag with the name of the cutting. COST: $1.00 to cover potting soil and
supplies. Class size limit: 20 participants.
