Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and The Fort Wayne Derby Girls are partnering to host the 5th Annual Bust A Move Auction and Fundraiser to benefit women with breast cancer in our community on Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

Each year, for Bust a Move, local breast cancer survivors and members of the Fort Wayne Derby Girls volunteer their bodies to be “cast” for the project. Once complete, the plaster busts are distributed to local artists to create unique, inspiring representations of the female form and the emotions associated with cancer. The artists modify the casts, using various artistic mediums, to create outstanding works of art. The art pieces will be auctioned at the event on October 5.

To celebrate the fundraiser’s fifth year, Cancer Services and Fort Wayne Derby Girls have compiled a calendar showcasing some of the most popular art pieces from each year. The calendar will be for sale at the event and in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s store throughout the rest of the year. Proceeds from the calendar will benefit the programs and services at Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana for breast cancer clients.

“Every year, the artists raise the bar and every year, I am blown away by the artwork,” said event chair Amber Recker. “I have no doubt that we will raise even more money than in previous years for women with breast cancer in our community.”
