The bankers and bigwigs at General Credit Union are again stepping out from behind their desks and rolling up their sleeves to bring you the biggest sidewalk sale & Nelson’s Port A Pit Chicken benefit this side of the Maumee! Join us on Friday, June 21 from 9am – 6pm in the parking lot of our Dupont branch location (corner of Dupont and Coldwater in Dupont Crossing Shopping Center) as we raise money and awareness for breast cancer and the Allison Pepple-Stier charity fund.

For months now, the staff at GCU have been rummaging through basements, attics and garages and pulling out all kinds of things ranging from gently used knick-knacks to outdoor furniture and TVs. GCU will also gladly accept any garage sale donations from the public (no clothing) if dropped off at our 6601 Mutual Drive Location by Thursday, June 20th. Grilled chicken and pit potatoes from Nelson’s will also be available beginning at 11am until quantities run out. Chicken is $6 and pit potatoes are $3.

All proceeds from the garage and chicken sales will be donated to Allison Stier, a longtime member of General Credit Union, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of inflammatory breast cancer and enduring her second round of chemotherapy. This is just the latest effort to help out the Stier family, as for the better half of last year though the present, GCU staff have been plotting and planning ways to raise money; from holding Ebay auctions and raffle drawings, to writing, editing, binding, and selling limited edition GCU cookbooks, to wrapping holiday gifts, to creating mini stores in each of the 5 branch lobbies selling breast cancer awareness items for two dollars each.
