Trebuchet and catapult competitions are being held at high schools, colleges, universities and park districts all over the country. Help Science Central show that nobody can build a modern version of the medieval trebuchet and heave a sack of flour at a target 300 feet away like the people of Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana.
Get your team together and enter the contest held at Science Central on Thursday, July 19 beginning at 1:04 pm. The competition is a great opportunity for teams of all ages to build and compete with the most accurate trebuchet or catapult. Teams vie in one of four categories: open class, high school, college/adult and corporate. Your team can be sponsored or just a group of friends working together to design, build and compete. Register your team for the competition now! If you are NOT interested in competing, come watch the competition and build your own mini-catapult.
For information about the competition, about the history of trebuchets and catapults or about finding plans for building a working trebuchet, visit our website at http://www.sciencecentral.org/catapultchaos.htm or call 260-424-2400 ext 426.
Catapult Chaos is sponsored in part by Fort Wayne Metals and Rock 104 and is an official Three Rivers Festival event.
