Siege of Fort Wayne, June 8 & 9, 2013
The city of Fort Wayne played a critical role in our country’s history. This June, the Old Fort will recreate the events of the historic Siege of Fort Wayne during the War of 1812. The clash of American forces against the Natives, sponsored by the British, decided the fate of the last US outpost on the frontier. Had Fort Wayne fallen, Great Britain would have controlled the entire western border of the United States. The weekend will include battle reenactments, period artisans, demonstrations, and children’s activities.
The Fort will be open to the public: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 8th, and 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9th. Tours of the Fort will be offered throughout the weekend.
Admission: Freewill donation.
The Old Fort is located at 1201 Spy Run Ave Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Parking is available at Headwaters and Lawton Parks.
