Event Description

January 21, 2014 Updated Jan 21, 2014 at 11:15 AM EDT

Building on last year’s efforts to raise awareness of violence, inequality and oppression of women and girls, Victory Noll Center will take part in the global campaign “One Billion Rising,” on Friday, February 14.

Started in 2012, “One Billion Rising” refers to one in every three women in the world who will raped or beaten in their lifetime, or about one billion women. The campaign has become one of the largest in the world with thousands of events held in more than 190 countries, where people gather to break their silence and express their stories in many different ways.

Victory Noll Center invites anyone to join them to walk out, dance and rise up in solidarity to harness the power and imagination it takes to stand for justice. Their goal is to show that women deserve a better world in which violence is unacceptable and a world where they are loved for the amazing gift that God created them to be.

The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m on Friday, February 14, at Victory Noll Center, located at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington. There is no cost for the event. Reservations are encouraged by February 12, but walk-ins will be welcomed.

For more information about Victory Noll Center or to register for the program, call (260)356-0628, ext. 174, or contact the Center by e-mail at victorynollcenter@olvm.org. More information is also available on the Center's website at www.olvm.org/vncenter.

Victory Noll Center is a ministry of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, and is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and personal development in a welcoming environment, advocating social justice awareness and response, and nourishing people to live and share God's love in today's world.
