Here's what's coming up at the Kendallville Public Library!

LEGO Quest/Busy Builders
Limberlost Public Library: 164 Kelly Street (PO Box 447), Rome City, IN
Every day in August, join us for building challenges, free play and fun! We've got lots of LEGOs for your child to build with. We'll provide the LEGOs and challenges, and they can get creative. LEGO DUPLOs will be available for even the youngest of builders. Just come in and ask us to play!

Rockin' Stitchers' Club

Looking for an opportunity to knit, crochet, stitch, or craft with a group of friends? Then join us every Monday at the Kendallville Public Library. Weather permitting, we’ll open up the porch where you can rock and craft with a beautiful view of Bixler Lake. On rainy days, we’ll move inside to sit by the windows and fireplace for that homespun feel. Bring snacks, drinks, and your projects. Then get to rockin’! We're meeting Mondays from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. throughout the months of August and September.

Tammy Mack will be presenting these free Simple Sign Language classes in August. These sessions are open to all ages (children under 10 must be accompanied by and adult). Our topics will be food signs on August 5 and emergency signs on August 19.

Introduction to Excel 2007
This is a class for beginning computer users. You are only expected to know how to use the mouse and keyboard, open a program, and turn the computer on and off. You should also be familiar with the Microsoft Windows operating system. This is the first of three programs learning to use Excel 2007. Excel is the spreadsheet software in the Microsoft 2007 Office Suite. It allows you to store, organize, and analyze numerical and text data. Last day for registration is August 12. Five participants must register in order for this class to be held.

Landlording Workshop
Kendallville Public Library: 221 South Park Avenue, Kendallville, IN
Sheamus P. Clarke and Scott Stellhorn, authors of "80/20 Landlording – Learn how to Increase your 80% and Decrease your 20%", will be presenting a “Free” landlording workshop. The Workshop will last about 1 ½ hours. After the workshop the book will be available for purchase for $12.99 and attendees can have it signed by the authors.

Intermediate Excel
This is a class for intermediate computer users. This is a continuation of the Introduction to Excel 2007 class, teaching you to easily use Excel, the spreadsheet software in the Microsoft 2007 Office Suite. Murder in Manhattan: Murder Mystery Dinner

You are cordially invited to the anniversary bash of Mr. Francis Fisk, noted businessman, family man, and friend on Friday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. sharp. This extravagant affair includes only the best of Manhattan’s elite. A $5 registration fee is required at registration and is nonrefundable. Pick up your Character packets at the Adult Reference Desk. An entree and drinks will be provided (we strongly encourage attendees to bring potluck dishes).

Get Foiled!
Turn a family picture into a work of art in this hands-on class.
Submit a family photo at least one week prior to the event. The library will copy the photo onto a transparency for this workshop and send the original home. Please take all photos out of the frame and make sure they are no larger than 8x10. A $5 materials fee applies. Must be 18 or older to participate. If you have questions, call Adult Services Manager Mindy Patterson at 260-343-2017.

This is the third and final part in the series of classes on Excel 2007. The class is directed to the more advanced computer users. You should be familiar with the basics of Excel 2007. Mini Golf Country Club Style Event
Friday, September 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Kendallville Public Library
The library is celebrating its 100th year with indoor mini golf! This is one of the main events. Our Mini Golf Country Club Style Event is open to adults age 18 and up. Guests will play a round of mini golf, mingle and fill up with food from Big Racks BBQ & Catering, Gridiron Grill, Joanna’s Dealicious Treats, Scott’s Food Store, Si Senor, Burger King, McDonald’s and TeaLightful Blessings. The cost to attend this event is $30 per person or $50 per couple. You can register by September 17 in person or online at www.kendallvillelibrary.org/minigolf_info.htm. We accept cash, check and credit card.

Free Family Fun Event: Mini Golf and More!
Saturday, September 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Kendallville Public Library
This is the main event to celebrate the Kendallville Public Library’s 100th year. We’re offering indoor mini golf for all, plus all kinds of family fun and food from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The first 100 people to arrive will receive a ticket for a free t-shirt that can be redeemed at noon when we unveil the library's new logo and website. Families will have fun with bounce houses, inflatable games like Twister and Sumo Wrestling, a round of indoor mini golf, a Tiny Tunes Bubble Party and more! Plus, the Noble County Concert Association is sponsoring a free performance by The Amazing Barker Boys. All this fun will make everyone hungry. Auntie Anne's Pretzels, TeaLightful Blessings and Big Racks BBQ & Catering can take care of that! Plus, Kendallville Boy Scout Troop #57 will be selling Sno Cones. All events are free, but food is at your own expense. Come and enjoy the day with us!
