On Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., The Fort Wayne/Allen County NAACP will be joining Rose Haney in a prayer vigil on the Allen County - Courthouse Green. The Prayer Vigil is in reponse for the Ferguson, Missouri, parent who lost her 18 year old in a police-connected-shooting in the early afternoon of Saturday, August 9, 2014.
Rose Haney and the local NAACP President will deliver the prayer.

The 69th Annual Marjorie D. Wickliffe Freedom Fund Banquet
On Friday, November 7th the local branch of the NAACP will hold its Marjorie D. Wickliffe Freedom Fund Banquet. While this event serves as the branch’s annual major fundraiser, it is also a time to reflect upon its previous year’s work. Local citizens, who have generously given of their time and talents, to support the work of the NAACP, will be recognized and honored. Appreciation of other’s who worked to motivate interest and participation in the ongoing struggle for civil rights will also be acknowledged. Mrs. Debbie Powers, 2014 chairperson, stated that this year’s theme is “All In for Justice and Equality”.

The immediate past National President of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre, is slated to be the special guest speaker. This year’s Red Carpet event will be held at The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and it will begin with a Meet and Greet session from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets are sixty-five dollars each for adults and thirty dollars for children, ten and under.
