NAACP Fort Wayne/Allen County Branch 3049 invites the community-at-large to participate in their upcoming events:

NAACP Sundays in Memorial Park, 3:00-9:00 pm (Sundays, August 4, 11, 18, 25) at Memorial Park, 2301 Maumee Ave (Washington Blvd/Maumee at Glasgow)
Join us in the park as a part of our Back to School, Stay in School Program in partnership with Fort Wayne Community Schools, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Indiana Tech, and Ivy Tech Community College. Activities will include Academic Readiness and Success Strategies Workshops and Handouts, Entertainment (The Ricky Bratton Band, Steppers Workshop), games, and more. Learn more about our branch which is comprised of 100% volunteers and our community service initiatives. For 104 years, NAACP has been comprised of multi-ethnic and multi-religion community activists focusing on equality of rights for all persons.

50th Anniversary March on Washington Realize the Dream March & Rally “Jobs, Justice, and Freedom;”
National Conveners: Martin Luther King, III & Rev. Al Sharpton, National Action Network. Co-Convened by: AFSCME, AFT, APRI, HRC, LCCR, NAACP, NBJC, SCLC, SEIU, NCBW, NOW, NUL, NCNW, NCBCP and The King Center (List in Formation). Open To the Public.

Get on the bus and leave the worry of driving to us. We will be traveling on a chartered bus, departing Fort Wayne at 5:00 pm Friday evening, August 23, 2013 from the Anthis Career Center parking lot, 1200 Barr St. As we get closer to DC on Saturday morning. there will be an extended stop allowing us time to freshen up and/or change clothing, if you wish,(you should store your change of clothing and whatever else you may need, on the bus, not under it). After arriving in Vienna, VA, on Saturday morning, August 24, 2013, we will go to the Metro Station located near the hotel where we will be staying overnight and ride the subway to the National Mall. We will go to the Lincoln Memorial for a rally scheduled for 8 am Saturday morning. The march will follow the rally; going from the Lincoln Memorial to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. The Rally and March are scheduled for 8am-4 pm.
After the march we will make our way back to the bus, via the subway, go to our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn - Tysons Corner, and check in. The remainder of the day/evening can be spent as you please. Sunday morning, August 25, 2013, after eating breakfast (full breakfast buffet, optional for $10), can be purchased at the hotel, check-out and depart for the return trip to Fort Wayne. We should arrive here by or before midnight Sunday night.

Bus transportation cost is $150.00 per person and includes:
Round trip transportation, provided by American Heritage Trails, bus drivers tip, a pre-purchased Obama 2013 Commemorative souvenir SmartTrip Card pre-loaded with a One Day Unlimited Trip Metrorail Pass (the card is like a credit card and it can be reloaded, so if you are ever in the area again and plan to ride the metro, it can be used again), T-shirts, and other amenities.
All bus reservations must be made with full payment. The payment is non-refundable but it can be transferred. Include your name/s and contact information with payment. Deadline for payment is August 14, 2013. Send a certified check or money order payable to:

Wickliffe Freedom Fund Banquet - NAACP Fort Wayne/Allen County Branch 3049 extends a gracious and enthusiastic invitation for you to join us as we celebrate a year of firsts, our programs, our community impact, and local community activists and partners. To kick off our celebration we have secured as our illustrious Keynote Speaker, the dynamic and incomparable Kim Keenan, Esq., National NAACP General Counsel. Ms. Keenan was a regularly featured “attorney” on the first season of Fox’s “Power of Attorney” television show. She has been a commentator for Fox News and has appeared on Fox’s legal program “Dayside.” In July 2003, she served as a Guest Host on CNN’s Sunday Morning Legal Show “Attorney-At-Law.” She has also appeared on C-SPAN, Court TV, Fox News and numerous radio programs.
