Event Description

December 3, 2010 Updated Nov 28, 2012 at 11:38 AM EDT

Victory Noll Center is offering a pair of opportunities for the Advent season.
"Moving in the Rhythm of Advent" will be held in two sessions on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. Advent’s rhythm is one of waiting, of quiet anticipation of Word become Flesh. The rush of the holiday season may prevent us from remembering to be present, to receive, to linger.
Jan Parker and Sue Wilhelm will explore Advent’s particular rhythm through gentle Tai Chi, calming breath work, centering prayer and other spiritual practices. The hope is these practices will allow the release and let-go of the non-essentials to welcome and embrace the Incarnate Word present.
Jan Parker has earned a certificate of completion in Training in Healing and Transformation from CAPACITAR International, and has a M.A. in Pastoral Studies. She has been teaching wellness practices for churches, schools, retreat centers, and service and healthcare organizations.
Sue Wilhelm, director of Victory Noll Center, holds a Doctor of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation. She facilitates prayer, retreats and workshops at the Center and through invitation.
The cost for the two sessions is $20. Registration each day begins at 9:15 a.m., with sessions running from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
The second Advent program is "Sacred Journeys." The free event will be held on three days, Dec. 3, Dec. 10, and Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
During Advent, the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem is pondered. Victory Noll Center welcomes all to consider their own Advent Journey through this open opportunity. Individuals may come for a few minutes or a couple hours. Opportunities include walking the labyrinth (both indoor and outdoor will be available), listening to Taize music, journaling using art materials or sitting in the Chapel for quiet prayer and pondering.
Victory Noll Center is located at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington.
