The Allen County Extension Office will offer the following upcoming programs. The general public is invited to attend. No
registration is required. All programs are held at the Allen County

"Transitioning You or Your Loved One to a Nursing Home"

Everyone has different expectations and understanding of life at a
nursing home. Join the discussion on what to expect, what to do, nursing
home staff expectations and how to keep the transition as peaceful as
possible.
"Living with Diabetes"
March 12th at 7:00 p.m.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, diabetes affects 25.8
million people. That number includes 7.0 million undiagnosed cases. Do you know the signs of diabetes, complication of uncontrollable diabetes or ways to manage your diabetes or a loved one's diabetes? This program will answer those questions as well as provide recipes and food demonstrations for tasting. For information specific to you and your health, your care provider should be contacted. $3.00 per person.
"What's ALL the Medical Mumbo Jumbo?"
April 10th at 7:00 p.m.
Have you ever left the doctor's office and wondered what they just told
you? If you are like many Americans today there is a large gap between what we are hearing or saying at the doctor's office and what is actually understood. Health Literacy (Understanding your health) is a real problem today. Come and learn to be more proactive in your own healthcare, and come out of your doctor visit with clearer understanding.
"A Look at the Culture of Mexico"
May 15th at 7:00 p.m.
This 1 hour presentation will include photos and stories of a recent
trip to Mexico including a stay in the home of a family in a rural
community. Participants can expect to learn more about foods, lifestyle
and immigration issues in the Mexican culture.
