Event Description
Nationally recognized artist William Harrison will discuss his career and present his work as a commercial illustrator and studio fine artist in a lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Saint Francis North Campus Auditorium.
Known for his photo-realistic renderings, he now focuses on working with traditional carbon pencil on paper. He is also a featured artist in the School of Creative Arts’ Midwest Drawing Invitational on display in Lupke Gallery at the North Campus.
The invitational opens with a reception at the gallery from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, and the exhibition runs through Nov. 21. This exhibition will feature the very best in contemporary drawing by nationally recognized artists working in a wide variety of styles, ranging from realism to abstraction to the figure. Other notable artists include Vincent Castagnacci, Henry Jackson, Dennis Jones, Ben Kiehl, John McLaughlin, Armin Mersmann, Joseph Piccillo, Michael Reedy, Amy Sacksteder, Robert Schefman and Bruno Surdo. This exhibition is co-curated by Ben Kiehl, Robert Kidd Gallery, Birmingham, Mich., and the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts.
