United Way of Allen County and Volunteer Center RSVP
Free Tax Preparation Program
Beginning Saturday, February 2, 2013
Any family or individual earning less than $57,000 annually qualifies for the Free Tax Preparation program organized by members of the Financial Stability Partnership. IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers help residents file their taxes and claim available credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Credits may help families get as much as a $5,000 refund.

To learn more about the Free Tax Preparation program, residents may pick up a flyer at CANI, United Way, Volunteer Center RSVP or many other social service organizations. A flyer can also be downloaded from www.UnitedWayAllenCounty.org/initiatives. Or, residents may dial 2-1-1 and ask for information from a trained phone counselor.
Individuals with disabilities may get assistance by calling 2-1-1 to make an appointment. Active Military and National Guard personnel can receive assistance at all of the above sites by appointment by calling the Volunteer Center at 260-424-3505.
Funding for the program is provided by a JPMorgan Chase Foundation grant and a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program grant from the IRS.
Note: A news conference will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church featuring partners of the Free Tax Preparation Program and Mayor Tom Henry as well as a tour of a site and photo opportunities.
