Ivy Tech Community College−Northeast and Indiana University Purdue University−Fort Wayne (IPFW) are hosting an open house, “Educational Pathways for Early Childhood Educators: Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees.” It will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 29 in the Student Life Center conference room on Ivy Tech’s North Campus (4900 St. Joe Road.)
The Colleges invite those interested in earning an associate or the new IPFW bachelor’s degree in early childhood education to attend the open house. Information will be available about the career lattice for early educators and what degree and transfer options exist for education students in northeast Indiana.
Ivy Tech and IPFW are working together to guide students through advisement for optimal completions and possible transfer to the bachelor’s degree program. The new bachelor’s option at IPFW is designed to engage all early childhood education associate degree graduates in a higher educational attainment.
With changes to teacher licensing requirements in the past few years, many Ivy Tech graduates were left without a local bachelor’s degree transfer option needed for employment and career advancement. The start of these new bachelor’s degree options is very beneficial for the educational advancements of the field in particular those affected by the licensing changes. The quality of early childhood education is enhanced through best practices of highly educated and effective teachers. Early educators are invited to attend and discover their powerful impact on young children and the latest educational opportunities available to update and enhance teaching strategies.
The event is being presented by Ivy Tech−Northeast’s School of Education and IPFW’s College of Education and Public Policy. Representatives from TEACH of Indiana Scholarship program will be on hand to answer any questions.
