Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography unit travels to various community and business sites to bring mammography screening to women at locations more convenient to their home or work.

Francine's Friends mobile mammography coach follows the same closure as Fort Wayne Community Schools for snow days - if schools are closed, the coach does not go out. Schedulers will call you to reschedule your appointment.

The mobile unit, a 40-foot long motor coach, is staffed by radiologic technologists who specialize in mammography from the Breast Diagnostic Center (BDC). The digital unit is furnished with the same FDA and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)-approved equipment as the three stationary sites of the BDC. Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography offers convenience and privacy for this screening test, which takes about 15 minutes.
Board-certified breast-imaging radiologists from FW Radiology interpret the exams.
Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography is a partnership between Francine’s Friends, Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Breast Diagnostic Center.
A group of local businesswomen and community leaders, Francine’s Friends have come together and developed a mission to make early detection of breast cancer available to every woman in Fort Wayne and the surrounding area. Our vision is to increase cancer screenings in northeast Indiana by providing a highly accessible and visible community resource.
The American Cancer Society recommends that every woman receive her first mammogram at age 40 and then each year afterward.
Screening mammography through this mobile service is for women who:

* Are age 35 and older and have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months
* Have no prior or current history of breast cancer or problems with their breasts
* Are insured or uninsured


Many insurance plans are accepted, and funding is available to cover expenses for women who do not have sufficient financial resources.
