Event Description

February 7, 2011 Updated Jan 30, 2012 at 12:02 PM EDT

With the significant popularity of farmers markets more and more people are looking to produce and sell their own special products.
Creation of House Enrolled Act 1309 in 2009 created a unique opportunity for individuals to produce products out of their home kitchens under the home based vendor exemption.
While HEA 1309 has opened a door of significant opportunity there are
limitations to the rule in place to protect consumers from potential health risks with foodborne illness.

This webinar, Cooking Up a Food Business in the Home Kitchen- Opportunities and Challenges of Starting or Growing a Home Based Vendor Food Enterprise explores both the opportunities and the limitations of HEA 1309, the science behind the regulations and safe/best practices for food production.
This program will be held from10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Eastern on March 20, 27 & April 3.
Anyone interested in registering or in obtaining additional information
should contact Roy Ballard in the Hancock County extension office at
317-462-1113 or Gonzalee Martin at marting@purdue.edu.
