Four age divisions: ages 9 and under through age 18
Cash prizes and camp scholarships
Winners recital to be broadcast on northeast Indiana's public television station, PBS39
Senior division winners may also receive an IPFW Dept of Music scholarship

Silvia Roederer, Western Michigan University

Application postmark deadline: Wednesday, May 7, 2014
First-round live auditions*: Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, 2014

The Third Annual IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Camp

June 15-20, 2014

Camp Opening Recital: Hamilton Tescarollo, piano solo

The IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Camp will open with a short recital by Associate Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies Hamilton Tescarollo, who is also the camp director. His program includes Villa-Lobos’ Aria, Mozart’s Rondo in C Major KV 309, and Bach/Busoni’s Chaconne.

Camp Guest Artist Recital: Baruch Meir, piano solo

Baruch Meir is an internationally recognized concert pianist and teacher, who serves as Associate Professor of Piano at Arizona State University School of Music. His program includes Haydn’s F minor variations, Brahms’ Klavierstücke Op. 118, and Chopin’s Barcarolle, Berceuse, and fourth Ballade.

$7 Adults, $6 Seniors (60 and older), $4 Non-IPFW Students (Children ages 10 and under are free)

Camp Guest Artist Piano Masterclass

Camp guest artist Dr. Baruch Meir will work with several young pianists in a masterclass setting. Piano students and teachers, as well as members of the community in general, are welcome to attend.

Emerging Artist Recital: Jason Simon, piano solo

Jason Simon is the IPFW Department of Music’s 2014 Outstanding Senior in Music Performance. The winner of a number of prizes and awards, he graduated from IPFW in spring 2014 with a B.M. in Piano Performance and will be pursuing a master’s degree in piano performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music starting in the fall. He will perform J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in G minor, BWV 885, Beethoven’s Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 81a “Les Adieux,” and Rachmaninoff’s Corelli Variations, Op. 42.

Emerging Artist Recital: Evan Keenan, piano solo

Among other distinctions, pianist Evan Keenan has been the state winner of the Indiana Music Teachers Association Hoosier Auditions and the recipient of the IPFW Department of Music’s 2011 Outstanding Senior Award in Music Performance. He will perform Richard Strauss’ Sonata in B minor, Op. 5, and the composer’s Fünf Klavierstücke, Op. 3.
