The Kiwanis Club of Fort Wayne will host the first annual Kiwanis Community Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 2, 2103, the National Day of Prayer.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers who devote time in service to their local communities by focusing on children and youth. An integral part of the organization is the expectation that its members engage in activities that further a spiritual aim.
Breakfast will be served between 7:30 to 8:00am, with a prayer service immediately thereafter (from 8:00-9:00am) in the Andorfer Commons, 2nd floor, on the campus of Indiana Tech. The service will be an ecumenical event, with clergy from many different denominations invited to lead everyone in prayer in their respective traditions.
The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer is “Pray for America” and the selected text for this year’s message is Matthew 12:21, “In His name the nations will put their hope.” The Most Rev. Kevin Rhoades, the Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets for the Breakfast are $15.00 each and they will not be available at the door. They may be purchased from a member of the Kiwanis Club or by emailing the club secretary, Peter Alexander at PCAlexander@indianatech.edu. In addition, table sponsorships are available at a cost of $200 (each table seats 8), and all net proceeds will go to benefit Charis House here in Fort Wayne. Seating is limited to 200 participants.
For more information, please contact Peter C. Alexander at 260-399-2834 or at PCAlexander@indianatech.edu.
