Event Description

Defenders of religious liberty plan a pre-election final rally to demand that the government respect and protect the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. on October 6, 2012 at the Allen County Courthouse Green (Clinton and Main Streets, Fort Wayne).
This rally is inspired by recent infringements on religious liberty by the federal government, most notably the Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandate forcing religious organizations and individuals of faith to fund birth control and abortion despite deeply held religious beliefs. Organizers expect hundreds to gather to Stand Up for Religious Freedom, and hope to empower local citizens to vote their conscience on November 6.

Rally organizers also announced that the following people will speak at the event:

Representative Sue Ellspermann, Indiana House District 74 - update on what our state government is doing to protect religious liberty
Sue Swayze, Policy Director, Indiana Right to Life - update on legislation to protect religious freedom
Fred Everett, Director of Family Life, Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend - update regarding lawsuits by religious institutions nationwide against the HHS Affordable Care Act mandates
Pat Miller, local celebrity and vocal defender of religious freedom - explain why we must vote to ensure the safeguard of religious freedom in America
Cathie Humbarger, Executive Director of the Allen County Right to Life, stated, "As citizens of the United States, we have the privilege of electing our leaders and the responsibility of holding those same leaders accountable for their decisions while representing us in office. Through our votes in the November election, we can send a message that we value our religious freedom and our right to practice our faith, both inside and outside the doors of our churches."
