Blackhawk Christian Theatre will present Elton John and Tim Rice’s timeless love story, AIDA on March 22 and 23, 2013.

The musical premiered at the Palace Theatre in New York on March 23, 2000 and ran for four and a half years. The Broadway production starred Fort Wayne native Heather Headley in the title role, with Adam Pascal and Sherie Rene Scott as Radames and the Princess Amneris. The BCT production features seniors Emma Kowatch and Larissa Clark as Aida and Amneris, and junior James Freeborn as Radames.

Over 50 other Blackhawk students round out the cast and production crew. The production is under the direction of drama director Rich Luedeke, with Monica Vernot acting as music director and vocal coach, and Darren McKown serving as technical director. Elaborate sets and costumes have been created by Joel Guthrie, P.T. Piekarski and Candis Allwein.

The show will be performed in the North Campus gym of Blackhawk Christian Elementary school at 7400 E.State Boulevard. Performances begin at 7:00 with the doors opening at 6:30.Tickets will be available at the door: $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for students.
