Arts Place Offering Music Class for Adults and Students
Arts Place is currently accepting registrations for summer MusicWorks instruction at its Portland Center. Adults and students may enroll in individual instruction. Lessons begin June 10 and continue through July 19, 2013.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
After that date, students will be accepted on a space-available basis. Instruction will be held at Arts Place, 131 East Walnut Street in Portland, Indiana.
A limited number of scholarships are available for individual instruction. Scholarships are based on financial need and commitment to study.
MusicWorks is one of the oldest comprehensive music education programs in East Central Indiana. All instructors are highly trained professional musicians. Individual weekly lessons are available at the Portland Center in band instruments, strings, piano, voice, and guitar.

Arts Place Offering Music Class for Infants and Toddlers
Arts Place is currently accepting registrations for the parent-child music class, First Steps in Music, at its Portland Center located at 131 East Walnut Street in Portland, Indiana. Classes will meet weekly on Wednesday mornings from June 12 through July 17, 2013.
Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 6, 2013.

First Steps in Music is a music class based on John Feierabend’s curriculum, First Steps in Music. Feierabend is “a devoted childhood educator” who blends movement and musicianship to help young children develop their brains and their musical ability.
First Steps in Music is designed for the child and parent together. Grandparents are welcome. Classes will be offered for children 10 months to 23 months from 9:00 to 9:35; 2 years to 3 years from 10:00-10:35; and 4 years to 5 years from 11:00-11:35. This class will be taught by LaVetha Loucks, a MusicWorks instructor and music teacher for the Jay School Corporation.
