Event Description
The 2012 Soctoberfest will be held in Fort Wayne on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 5th – 7th, 2012. Fort Wayne Sport Club, located at 3102 Ardmore Ave, Fort Wayne, will host the weekend-long event. The 9th annual Soctoberfest will ‘kick off’ on Friday evening with a 6v6 tournament with play beginning at 6:00 p.m. in both ‘Open’ and ‘Competitive’ brackets.
The 6v6 tournament will use a small-sided pitch with small-sided goals. Six players are allowed on the pitch but games will be played with no goalies. There will be no off sides nor slide tackling. The first three rounds are round robin format with the winning teams moving on to the knockout rounds.
The 6v6 tournament entry fee is $60 per team with each team being guaranteed at least three 25 minute games. The 6v6 tournament team entry form can be found on the Fort Wayne Sport Club Web Site: www.fortwaynesportclub.com . There will be prizes for the winning teams and lots fun for all. Please come to enjoy the soccer, food and fun. Entertainment and refreshments will continue in the Club House following the tournament. A Craft Beer Sampling will also be taking place on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Soctoberfest will continue throughout the weekend with the FWASL women’s team playing an exciting match at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Fort Wayne Sport Club Over-50 team will be hosting Team Edelweiss from Dayton at 4:00 p.m. Entertainment will continue in the Club House on Saturday night. Rumor has it some polka hits will be thrown down in-between some catchy dance numbers.
The men’s tournament games will be played on both Saturday and Sunday. Please plan on attending to watch the Sport Club teams compete as well as enjoying some food and German beer. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.
