Location: Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne
Following three successful years of TechFest (www.neitechfest.com), the Northeast Indiana Tech Coalition (collaboration of the Chamber’s Graduate Retention Program, Atos, the City of Fort Wayne, and Allen County) will host TechCamp, June 24 – 28, 2013, at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, for regional high school students. Like TechFest, TechCamp (http://www.neitechfest.com/index.php/techcamp) strives to encourage Northeast Indiana teens’ passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (“STEM”) through friendly team competition and networking.
This weeklong competitive, critical thinking and problem-solving camp allows high school students to display their talents and network with local colleges and business leaders. Staying each night at Indiana Tech, participating students will travel during the week to varying local businesses to take part in problem-solving activities, network with leadership and gain insight into career paths. Participants will also gain experience in team-based entrepreneurial development of a realistic business plan using the knowledge acquired during the week. TechCamp will provide Northeast Indiana’s budding techies with an opportunity to use their imagination, develop their talents, gain early business and STEM exposure, and to connect with Northeast Indiana business leaders in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. Participants will also learn from college professors and make lasting friendships.
TechCamp is open to only (20) high school students currently in 9th – 12th. Applications are available online at neitechfest.com and fwchamber.org/grad and will be accepted until April 19. TechCamp participation cost is $225 per student and includes all meals, housing, and excursions.
