September 3, 2013 Updated Sep 3, 2013 at 11:17 AM EDT

Saturday, October 5, 2013. Activities begin at 10:00am with an 11:00am walk start.

The 15th Annual DSANI Buddy Walk® is one of over 250 Buddy Walks occurring in cities across the country this fall in recognition of October being Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The Buddy Walk® is a family-friendly 1.6 mile awareness and fundraising walk that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome in our community.
The event will feature entertainment, special guests, food, children’s activities, prizes and more. Proceeds from the Buddy Walk® will support outreach to families in our community, local and national advocacy and public awareness initiatives, and national research. There is no cost to walk or enjoy all the festivities.

Everyone is welcome! Participants include, but are not limited to, people with Down syndrome, their families, friends, teachers, coworkers and other supporters. Anyone, with or without a direct connection to a member of the Down syndrome community, is welcome to attend.
2013 Buddy Walk® Grand Marshal, Kristy Meeks, Mayor Tom Henry, and Indiana’s NewsCenter’s Megan Trent will begin the Buddy Walk with live entertainment, a picnic, children’s activities, and prizes after the walk. Approximately 1500 attendees are expected to attend this year’s Buddy Walk.
