As part of its celebration of Older Americans Month, Villa of the Woods, 5610 Noll Avenue in Fort Wayne, will host "Aging with Grace," an informative event for older adults, on Thursday, May 23.
Offered free of charge and open to the public, Aging with Grace will include a brunch and wellness checks beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by guest speakers representing the Better Business Bureau, Home Care Services, and the Fort Wayne Police Department.
"Older adults want to remain independent and live in their own homes for as long as possible," says Kathy Retzios, Villa of the Woods residential care administrator. "During Aging with Grace, we'll provide tips on how people can adapt their homes to meet their changing needs as they and their loved ones age. We'll also delve into how older adults can protect themselves, their identities, and their finances. This will be a very informative and enjoyable event."
Representatives from Walgreens will perform free wellness checks such as blood pressure readings and body-mass index calculations. Those in attendance will also receive vouchers for free blood-sugar tests at Walgreens.
If you plan to attend, RSVP no later than May 21 by contacting Kathy at (260) 745-7039 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Located just west of Bishop Luers High Schools, Villa of the Woods is Catholic Charities' state-licensed residential community for older adults.
