Lent is a special time, a time to change, to emerge from darkness into Christ’s marvelous Light and to bear witness to transforming love in the world. Victory Noll Center is offering several opportunities during Lent to deepen relationships with Christ.
Programs begin March 20 with the annual Offering of Letters in conjunction with Bread For The World, encouraging individuals to write letters to lawmakers in support of programs to help the hungry and poor. The popular "Way of the Desert" directed retreat returns with a pair of four-day sessions opportunities March 23-26 and a second retreat March 27-30. In addition, the outdoor Stations of the Cross will be accessible daily during the Lenten season.
Victory Noll Center is located on the Victory Noll campus at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington.

'Way of the Desert' Directed Retreats
Victory Noll Center is offering "Way of the Desert" directed retreats, and participants may choose from a pair of four-day opportunities in March. The first session runs from 5 p.m. March 23, and runs through 3:30 pm. Wednesday, March 26. The other session begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 27 and goes through 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30.
Directed retreats offer extended time to tend to the movement of God in a life. It is a special time to go apart and listen, to draw close to the Presence and be refreshed in the inner spirit. Participants may also take part in Centering Prayer and group Lectio Divina. Components of this retreat focus on silence, solitude and prayer. Retreatants usually spend 3 to 5 prayer periods per day of one hour in length, depending on one’s prayer rhythm and unique relationship with God.
Retreat leaders are Nancy Brousseau, OP, D.Min., and Victory Noll Center director Sue Wilhelm, D.Min.
The cost for the directed retreat is $295 for single occupancy and includes accommodations and meals. Early registration is encouraged, with the retreat limited to the first 10 who register.
Bread For The World/Offering of Letters
Victory Noll Center will join in a nationwide program on March 20 to address the issue of hunger in the United States and the world.
Every year since 1974, the organization Bread For The World has invited churches and groups across the country to take part in the Offering of Letters, urging for changes to policies, programs and conditions that allow hunger and poverty to persist.
Fasting and Almsgiving are Lenten practices. The Bread for the World Offering of Letters 2014 campaign is “Reforming U.S. Food Aid,” joining thousands of others to write letters to lawmakers in support of federal programs that help hungry and poor people.
Victory Noll Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 20 as they take part in this effort. They will have information, writing materials and the addresses of legislators to help prepare individual letters. This outpouring of concern sends a powerful message to political leaders and helps to make a difference in the lives of low-income families.
There is no cost and no registration for the event.
Outdoor Stations of the Cross
During Lent and depending on weather conditions, individuals or groups are welcome to walk the outdoor Stations of the Cross on the property of Victory Noll from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Visitors must check in at the front desk of the Victory Noll Administration Building. Station booklets will be available for those who wish to use them.
