Arts Place cordially invites the public to view and enjoy an upcoming exhibit titled Sacred Garden by artist Andrea Wellnitz. Sacred Garden can be viewed at the Portland Center of Arts Place located at 131 E. Walnut Street, Portland, IN. The exhibit will run February 20th through April 5th and is free to attend.
Wellnitz, inspired by her garden outside her studio and the healing quality of nature, creates works of art using fiber with a felting process as well as clay sculptures. She has incorporated art in working with youth and adults in the US, Jamaica, Uzbekistan and Austria.
Wellnitz was introduced to the wet felting process while on sabbatical in Austria. She then traveled to England to study how to combine wool fibers with silk and other fibers through classes at the Moral Fibre Studio. Wellnitz shares that that the art of wet felting is a “magical and therapeutic process”.
