Tickets for the 3rd annual Taste of Jay Count event hosted by the Jay County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Indiana Michigan Power are now available for purchase. Interested parties can purchase the $15.00 tickets at Main Street Market (218 W. Lincoln Street, Portland), The Flower Nook (111 E. Main Street, Portland) and at the Community Resource Center (118 S. Meridian Street, Portland).
This year’s event will again be at the Jay Community Center in Portland, Indiana on October 16, 2011 with dinner service from 4-6 PM. The dining room will remain open until 7 PM for ticket holders to stay and enjoy the fall atmosphere and friends. Local artists will also have displays set-up for a one-day art exhibition. Ticket holders will be able to view and purchase artwork displayed by the participating artists.
The Taste of Jay County is a great event for people of all ages eager to try the best dishes from Jay County food establishments. Attendees will have a chance to sample a “taste” of several different foods and vote on their favorites based on specific categories. Winners are then given rights to their new title as “best of taste” winners for one year. We would again like to congratulate last year’s winners: Best of Taste (Overall Winner): Koffee Kup Diner, Appetizer: Romer's Catering, Salad: Second Chance Bar & Grill, Soup: Richard's Family Restaurant, Sandwich: Christa's Bakery & Cafe, Side Dish: Payless Pizza, Entrée: Pizza King of Portland, Dessert: Koffee Kup Diner, and Beverage: Coca-Cola of Portland.
