Camp Watcha Wanna Do is hosting its annual Live and Silent Auction on Friday, October 19, 2012, 7 p.m. at Pine Valley Country Club located at 10900 Pine Mills Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46845. Each year the organization hosts this event to raise money to support Camp Watcha Wanna Do - a free, weeklong camp for children with cancer.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $75, which includes fabulous hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and the opportunity to take home merchandise donated by some of Fort Wayne’s finest retailers. Guests will also be able to hear heart-warming testimonies of Camp Watcha Wanna Do campers.
Camp Watch Wanna Do began in 1992 as a one-week resident camp for 38 children surviving cancer. Last year, 110 children attended the camp and enjoyed the opportunity to hike, swim, and play rather than focusing on their cancer.
The weeklong experience away from home and away from the hospital allows children with cancer to enjoy the same experiences as children without cancer.
Additionally, the camp is an ideal place for the children to share their experiences and bond with others who have faced similar challenges.
