On Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 5-8 p.m., Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, The Franciscan Center and Miss Virginia's Mission House will host "Stand Up For Hunger," a collaborative effort to promote hunger awareness and to raise funds for hunger relief in Allen County.
The event will take place at Trolley Steaks and Seafood, 2898 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
"As a group we wanted to provide the community a refreshing opportunity to come to the aid of the hungry in Allen County. All three of our organizations are seeing increased numbers of those seeking help, and we know that the people of Fort Wayne will respond generously when given the chance. We all take seriously God's call to feed the hungry, and we are looking forward to offering the community the chance to join us in our efforts," said Roger Reece, Executive Pastor of Associated Churches.
The Neighborhood Food Network of Associated Churches recorded serving 1.3 million meals to 90,000 individuals in 2011 and is experiencing an 11% increase in individuals served from 2011 to 2012 along with a 26% increase in seniors being served. The Franciscan Center is serving 72,000 clients annually with an average of 450 clients per week. Miss Virginia's Mission House
serves 34,000 individuals annually and 112,864 family members.
