Event Description

July 7, 2011 Updated Mar 13, 2013 at 9:33 PM EDT

During the Easter season, it's the rabbit that takes center stage during events throughout the state. However at Limberlost State Historic Site, the spotlight will be shared with other cute and lively critters during the Golden Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30.

Grab the kids, bring baskets or bags and get ready to gather as many eggs as possible during the Golden Easter Egg Hunt at Limberlost State Historic Site. While on the hunt, participants should be on the look-out for the special Golden Eggs; the finders will win Grand Prizes at the conclusion of the hunt! The Golden Easter Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 11 a.m.

After the hunt, stick around because families can also enjoy visiting with a variety of cute animals such as bunnies, silkie chickens and guinea pigs at an onsite petting zoo provided by Roll Farms of Marion. There will also be a display of eggs from a wide variety of creatures that actually lay eggs. Kids can also attend a "bunny class" in the new Visitor Center to learn all about rabbits and hares. Graduates will go through a graduation ceremony to become an official Limberlost Harebrain and receive a special graduation gift.

Be sure to bring your camera as there will be plenty of opportunities for photographs with the Easter Bunny as well!

The event is $1.50 per child 12 and under and adults are free. The Golden Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by Crossroads Pantry of Geneva, CVS Pharmacy of Berne and Portland, Dreams on Wings of Geneva, Wal-Mart of Portland, IN and the Friends of the Limberlost.
