The Fort Wayne Children's Choir presents the Young Artists Concert on March 25 at 7:30pm at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne. The concert will feature the Concert Choir, Youth Chorale, Chamber Singers, and select individual musicians from the featured ensembles.
The Concert Choir is the most advanced, unchanged voice ensemble of the organization. This ensemble is the primary ambassador for the organization, and travels regionally, nationally and internationally to festivals and performances representing both the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir and our great city. The Youth Chorale is comprised primarily of high school students and focuses on a breadth of repertoire ranging from early polyphony to modern choral works. The Chamber Singers are a subset of the Youth Chorale and commit to investing extra time every week, focusing on the highest musical standards. Additionally, select students from these ensembles will present solo work they have prepared for regional ISSMA music competitions and collegiate auditions.
The Fort Wayne Children's Choir is a music education based organization which places special attention to music instruction, literacy, and performance. The organization provides artistic and educational excellence to children from diverse backgrounds. This concert is part of our goal to contribute to the community's cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience professionally trained voices.
Jonathan Busarow, Artistic Director for the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will be preparing all of the ensembles for this concert. “These ensembles are comprised of seasoned members and many of which have spent several years in the Children’s Choir. They are a well-prepared and special group of musicians who will give an extraordinary concert.” The concert will feature music that showcases the VonBeckerath organ and wonderful acoustics at First Wayne Street United Methodist. Composers include Eleanor Daley, Mark Hayes, and Leonard Bernstein.
Tickets are available at ipfw.edu/tickets or at the door for $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.
