FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about the echo tube exhibit.
It’s a long tube, placed against a wall. An echo is when a sound wave is moving in one direction, strikes a hard surface, and changes its direction.
With the exhibit, the echo from a hand clap has a strange sound, with high and low sounds. Shorter waves have a higher sound and move faster. Longer waves have a lower/deeper sound and move slower. So, the shorter, higher sounds move faster and return sooner. Followed by the longer, deeper, slower sounds.
