FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about an area of math called Topology.

It studies how shapes fill space and how shapes change. It involves twisting or bending one shape, but not cutting it, to become another shape. For example, a coffee mug can be altered to become a donut. A Mobius Strip is an example which deals with surface area. With a typical ring or band, there is an inner surface and an outer surface; two distinct surfaces. A Mobius Strip is a ring that’s been twisted, so its inner and outer surface are the same; one continuous surface.
