FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about surface tension and surfactants.
Liquids, such as water or milk, have a surface or skin layer called surface tension. Certain chemicals, such as soap, are called surfactants and can break that surface tension. Soap is also able to surround molecules of fat/grease/dirt and wash them away. These two reasons are why soap is good at cleaning clothing.
