FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - We'd probably all agree that the best business leaders are those who care for their communities and for their customers.

That's what my monthly special report "The Extra Mile" is all about this time around.

Denise Demarchis has owned and operated Matilda Jane Clothing in Fort Wayne since 2006.

She isn't just known for the designer creations cut and sewn in the local factory by her full-time staff of 30. She's also known for helping with local non-profits like Habitat for Humanity, Bust a Move and Smart Girls.

Denise has even sponsored an orphanage in Kenya and asked her customers to help raise money for a friend's family after the death of their loved-one.

Janelle Howe nominated Denise.

Janelle says, "I started as a customer here about two and a half years ago. I have a little girl, and I loved the clothes here. As soon as I started buying their clothes, I started following their blogs, and I started seeing all this work they were doing in the community... not just for the community but for their customers. They're so giving and so generous. God has blessed their business."

Denise DeMarchis says, " We would see the same people over and over, and I'm just giving by nature. My whole family is used to making people smile. That's what you do. I love the feeling of inspiring someone and making them happy. And, I love the feeling that I know they're going to go back and do that for someone else. I think that's what it's about. It's not just about me giving, it's about them giving and inspiring others. You don't have to build an orphanage or give someone $20,000. You can just go through the drive-through and tell someone their earrings look really cute today!"

Denise, an artist, first began painting furniture and then children's clothing. That's what led to the successful business she has today.

She's always had her giving heart.
