November Golden Apple Award Recipient: Bobbie Florea

By Jennifer Blomquist

We have a teacher here who is very special. She's able to control the classroom sternly, but lets students enjoy the material they're learning as well. She's also an incredibly strong person - having lost her husband unexpectedly in 2005. Despite her heartache, she came back to work almost immediately and was just as effective a teacher as she had been before. We are so grateful to have her.

Congratulations to Bobbi Florea, the recipient of the Golden Apple Award.

Wiping away tears, Bobbi Florea couldn't believe she was receiving an award for doing something she loves to do.

"I have 5 classes and I don't have problems in any of my classes - I truly don't - just because - because of the parental support," says Bobbi Florea.

Besides the parents support - it was obvious there was plenty of grandparent support as 800 grandparents happened to be attending school that day for a special program.

Nominating student Zach Bonahoom thinks of Mrs. Florea as a role model.

"Every teacher in this building and every person in this building is top notch - but Mrs. Florea is at the top," says Zach Bonahoom.

Bobbi Florea comments, "It's an honor and a privilege to be a teacher and I think it's really one of the most important jobs in the world - so I try to take that very seriously everyday and do my best."
