October Golden Apple Recipient: Dave Stronczek

By Jennifer Blomquist

"We have a teacher here who is always willing to discuss things in a way a kid can understand. He is fair with every person and is great at explaining things. I know I learned the most from him, not only school smarts, but also about friendship, honesty and trustworthiness. I can't say enough about him."

Congratulations to Mister Dave Stronczek, the recipient of the Golden Apple Award.

"This school's really a unique, special place - the kids are really involved in school - the parents are involved," says Dave Stronczek.

And so is this teacher. For the last 16 years, Mister Stronczek has been making some big impressions on young minds. One of the ways he does this is through something called "'T" time.

Dave continues saying, "We do sit down and talk with the class sometimes about issues that we have in the class and we like to sit around and talk. We have opportunities to do that in this school here and I really - that's what I do enjoy about Canterbury School."

"We talked about like, popularity - and how to deal with that and you could either become popular and not be a mean person," says 6th grader, Reid Collis.

5th grader Annie Rumsey adds, "He was an amazing teacher and he helped you with anything on your mind that wasn't just school. He could fix problems and he was always there for you if you were down."
