FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – A local crossfit gym is using their strength to raise the bar on breast cancer awareness.

Members at Fort Wayne’s Crossfit Tactical Strength, along with Women's Health Advantage, are holding what they call, "Barbells For Boobs".

“Barbells For Boobs" is a national non-profit organization that provides screenings, diagnostic procedures, and mammograms for low-income and uninsured women and men, “no matter their age or situation in life”.

It’s an effort to help in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

Although this is a national organization, the people at Crossfit Tactical Strength are raising funds for two local women by doing what they do best—training and lifting weights.

"Crossfit's a strength and conditioning program, so everyone is very conscious and trying to benefit them self whether they're wanting to compete with it or just general health. We're helping raise money on Saturday, but for us it's just a normal workout day and we'll have a little bit better meaning for being there that day,” said Andy Blanford a member of the gym.

The fundraiser will be Saturday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m., at Crossfit Tactical Strength, 921 Monroe Street.

Organizers say you don't have to be a member of the gym or have even done crossfit before to participate, but if you'd rather just donate you can do that too.
