One-Armed Cooking - How to Quickly Prepare a Meal with a Baby at Your Side

By Jennifer Blomquist

Sharon and Michael Jones remember the good 'ole days... just the two of them... candlelight... music... then... along came little Landon...

Cooking is a little bit harder these days... That's why Cynthia Stevens Graubart is here. She's a mom to two and author of the "One-Armed Cook -- Healthy and Nutritious Recipes You Can Cook With a Baby at Your Side."

"These recipes are good at every age and every stage," says Cynthia. "My children are teenagers... We live such busy lives. I really like having these easy recipes."

Today she's showing Sharon how to make a pecan pie.

You need crushed pecans, eggs, cream, corn syrup, butter, brown sugar, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Put it all in, blend and pour it in your refrigerated pie crust with the nuts. Bake it and let it cool. These pies can even be frozen for up to three months.

Next, Sharon whips up an easy and colorful side dish that takes just ten minutes.

Steam some carrots, add orange marmalade, golden raisins and almonds.

"Well, my son likes sweets, so I'm thinking the goodness in the carrots might actually get eaten this time," says Sharon.

That cookbook has lots of other helpful hints... like taking staple foods like beans, broth, rice and pasta and getting them from the pantry to the dinner table in twenty minutes or less.
