Randy Thorne behind the lens of a video camera is a familiar sight, not in his Fort Wayne backyard but in much more exotic locations, like the four corners of America’s wilderness lands. Randy is one of those entrepreneurs finding new uses for the computer. “There had to be a way to bring the benefits of nature into people's lives without making them actually have to go to these places,” he says. Randy’s idea, already up and running, is called ‘Peaceful Walks’, three minute virtual hikes through some of the country’s most beautiful wilderness areas.

“In this day and age there's a lot of stress and people are looking for ways to relax,” he says. “If people can't get to nature the other alternative is to bring nature to people, and that's what we're trying to do.

For pennies a day you can log on to Randy’s website, peacefulwalks.com, and spend your office coffee break in the Dakota Badlands, or Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, or enjoy videos of wild animals, wild flowers or waterfalls, all shot by Randy himself.

“So we try to make it as natural as possible, there's no voice over, there's no music it's all just natural sound.”

And while you’re enjoying your virtual commune with nature you’re also helping to preserve it. Randy donates a percentage of the revenue from peacefulwalks.com to environmental causes, so future generations can enjoy video of Mother Nature’s wonders, and like us, still have the real thing to go lose themselves in.
