Pedestrian Hit & Killed On Hessen Cassel

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne man was killed Sunday morning while walking on the side of the road when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Fort Wayne police say the man was walking on the west side of the street in the 6200 block of Hessen Cassel Road; gray Chevrolet pick-up truck traveling north on Hessen Cassel left the street, and hit the pedestrian.

Emergency personnel found the pedestrian along the side of the road unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the truck likely fell asleep at the wheel. Police add that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and no arrests were made.
