MUNCIE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Nearly 400 Ball State University students will be looking for different housing this fall, after renovations on a residence hall is months behind schedule.

Contractors were supposed to finished with construction of the Studebaker East dorm on Mar. 31, Ball State officials say. Final touches, like landscaping, were scheduled to be complete at the end of May.

But school officials say construction crews have missed key deadlines on the $17 million renovations, pushing the project back months. That delay will force Ball State to find alternative housing plans for 380 students slated to live at Stu East for the upcoming school year.

Ball State's student-run newspaper, The Daily News, reports Stu East could be closed until the start of spring semester.
