Woman Charged With Injuring 2-year-old Girl

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (www.inc.tv) - A Winona Lake woman was arrested by Kosciusko County Sheriff's Detectives for injuring a 2-year-old girl while under her care.

Karen Marie Bartley, 35, Winona Lake, was charged with a class B felony for the neglect of a dependent life and causing serious injury to the child's body.

The 2-year-old's father and his fiancee brought the child to the emergency room after the girl was vomiting.

Doctors determined the girl suffered a fractured skull.

Bartley originally told police the child had been throwing a temper tantrum, and had struck her head against the floor repeatedly.

After detectives interviewed Bartley, the say she later admitted to being "overly aggressive" while playing with the child.

Bartley is currently on prosecutorial hold from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
