FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Area students put their career skills to the test Friday afternoon at the Jobs For America's Graduates Regional Career Development Conference.
JAG students from Northrop, North Side, Snider, South Side, Wayne, New Haven, Huntington North, Marion and Mississinewa high schools took aim at the state finals in several job-related competitions at the annual conference held at the Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus, 7602 Patriot Crossing.
Prizes. including scholarships for training and college expenses, in nine categories. The top two contestants in each category advance to the JAG State Career Development Conference in April.
Awards were also given to the school with the best banner and binder showing community service.
JAG is school-to-careers program for juniors and seniors at 49 Indiana high schools. Locally, JAG is under the direction of Community Action of Northeast Indiana, and funded by the Northeast Indiana Regional Workforce Investment Board. The program provides students with educational, military and job opportunities after high school.
