FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Senator Dan Coats met with Indiana National Guard Adjutant General Martin Umbarger Thursday to continue to determine the fate of A-10 fighter aircraft at Fort Wayne's 122nd Fighter Wing.
Coats says he, Umbarger, Governor Daniels and the National Guard in Washington are in close communication over the fate of the A-10s.
He says that from a budget standpoint, the government isn't trying to undo what's working at the 122nd, and if a proposal can be agreed upon to keep the A-10s, that's a possibility.
At the same time, he also says the 122nd is prepared to embrace the MC-12 Intelligence Aircraft.
Coats says regardless of which aircraft the 122nd flies, their reputation hasn't changed around the country.
