1983 Shooting on Broadway Ruled 8th Homicide of 2012

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of the man who died after complications from the injuries he received on February 19th, 1983.

44-year-old Brian E. Burtz of Fort Wayne was shot near the Trailways Bus Terminal in 1983.

Burtz died from sepsis due to complications from quadriplegia.

According to the Journal Gazette's interview with Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards says Clifford Justice of Indianapolis has served his sentence for shooting Burtz and can't be charged again for the same event.

Justice pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness, saying he accidentally shot Burtz. He was sentenced to probation.
